2015 Goal Setting

goal-setting-photoIt is that time of year once again where we look forward to what is possible next year. Goals are very important for me, that is what gives me motivation. From a health and fitness perspective I certainly have some lofty goals for 2015.

From a weight perspective I need to drop some pounds. My plan is to lose 20 lbs in the next year. I hope to have most of it shed prior to the key triathlon season from spring to fall. It will be a tough goal to hit but I am confident I can get there.

Which leads me to my triathlons for this upcoming year. My “A” race is early in July, a 1/2 Ironman in Muskoka. I have a goal to beat my previous best by 44 minutes. That means I am aiming for a sub 6:30 time in that race. That is the big goal. I also want to compete in three other triathlons in 2015, most of them warm-ups for the 1/2 Ironman. I don’t have any time goals for the warm-up races, just completion and practicing of my transitions.

I also want to do a late season 1/2 Marathon, likely in Ottawa. I have a goal to beat my previous best time of the 1/2 Marathon distance. I don’t have a specific amount I want to beat my time by, I just want to beat it!

This past week I did some good training. Being off over Christmas helps with having some free time. During the week I travelled 209 kms during my training. I didn’t get much swimming in though as the pool was closed 😦
