New plans for the summer
Well, Brittany found out that she needs surgery on her wrist. She is very bummed about the entire thing and as a result the only sport she can focus on this summer is running. She officially dropped out of Muskoka 70.3 and all of her other planned races. So that left me to make a decision on the Muskoka race. I have missed a ton of training in the last month due to travel and general laziness, lol. I followed her lead and also dropped out of the Muskoka race. It just made sense financially as it would have been an extremely expensive race weekend at the Deerhust Resort at $500 a night. It may have made sense if two of us were racing but it was a bit extreme for just me.
So, I have to set some new goal races for the summer. I may just back the training down and relax this summer, time will tell. I have some other exciting things going on that I will share at some point and it has been consuming plenty of my free time (of which I have very little).
Today Jackie and I met a long time friend Dale in Picton for a wine event. We spent the day tasting both wine and food and generally having a good time. We even elected to tour a few of the vineyards after the festival and had a pizza lunch at one of them. There was much money spent but you only live once right?
It seems that we missed spring. This past week has definitely been summer weather, hot and humid. Today was 28-30 all day as we drank wine. I decided to run a 10k training run after drinking wine all day. It was so hot out and a bell full of wine didn’t help. I think it may have been the toughest 10k I have done in awhile. But I did it. This past week I travelled 91 kms during my training.
Happy Mothers’s Day to all you Moms out there, especially mine!
See you at the finish line…..
