I have spent this past weekend driving. Brittany and I have been doing a road trip to a number of interviews for her to get into Physiotherapy school. The first stop was U of T. We drove up on Saturday morning and found some parking close to the campus. She went to the interviews, I just walked around the city. The weather was cool, but the skies were clear (more on that later). She was done late afternoon and we headed to Hamilton. The roads were slow, so much traffic. It is funny how I never noticed such things when I lived in Toronto, but now returning to the city it drives me crazy.
We checked into our hotel and had some dinner from a take-out place. For the final time, I had hoped, I played the role of the interviewer. We did a number of mock questions, she was ready. This morning at breakfast, I was once again put into the role of interviewer extraordinaire. I am pretty sure I could get into Physiotherapy school at this point. I dropped her off at MacMaster not too long ago and now I sit in a local Starbucks for a number of hours. I just may finish reading my book this morning, or look out the window at the pouring rain.
I received my confirmation that I am indeed volunteering for the 2016 Lake Placid Ironman. It is a tough event to get a spot in and one way of doing it is to volunteer the previous year. This gives you priority for registering the following year (if you line up the day after the race before the crack of dawn. So at the point, my first full Ironman will be the 2017 Lake Placid event.
My training this week was, well, non-existent. The early part of the week I was recovering from the 1/2 Marathon last weekend, and then something else seemed to get in the way the rest of the week. I travelled 56 kms this past week.
See you at the finish line…..
