Time for the Olympics!
Every four years we find the TV in our house tuned to the Olympics. It is nice that this time around there is not much of a time zone difference, so we can see the events live. There has been a lot of bad press surrounding this year’s games as Brazil has had plenty of turmoil. Hopefully, the two weeks go off as planned and no one gets robbed or shot! Last night we watched the women’s 4×100 team win the first Canadian medal, a bronze in the pool. Jackie is glued to the gymnastics, while I wait for the triathlon competition in week #2.
Brittany is in Las Vegas this week. She seems to travel a whole lot more than her parents, and she is still a student. Maybe we should all go back to school and enjoy the good life. She has her housing situation all settled for September. She is sharing with another student from Queens who is also doing her Masters at U of T. Housing was VERY expensive in downtown Toronto, but she seems to have picked a very nice place.
My training continued this past week. I did a couple of tough cycling workouts with the new team. I thought I as going to puke on the bike on Tuesday night, but managed to not embarrass myself, lol. I am sure it was in part due to the excessive heat we have had the last couple of weeks. Yesterday was a long ride, and this morning was a long run. I travelled 175 kms this week.
See you at the finish line….
